Daniel L. Thacker, 79, of Indianapolis, formerly of Martinsville, passed away Friday, January 9, 2026 at Community Hospital South.

Daniel was a graduate of Martinsville High School and served his country as a United States Marine during the Vietnam War. Daniel was also an ordained minister. He led Sunday School at South Pointe Church and occasionally preached. The Lord was the main focus of his life. He had spent his last years at Southpointe Healthcare Center. There he made many friends and spread God's glory to all who came his way.

He is survived by son, Daniel "Dan" Thacker (Teresa) of Indianapolis; daughter, Brandy Thacker of Indianapolis; brother, Jimmy Thacker of Ellettsville; 10 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death are his parents, William and Phyllis Thacker; brothers, Charles "Chuck" Thacker, Barry Thacker; sisters, Valarie Field, Lori Fox, Tessa Chastain.

A Graveside service with military honors will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 19, 2026 at Nebo Memorial Park with Dan Thacker officiating.
