Beulah Thacker (Pottorff)

Beulah Ann Pottorff, 70, a lifelong resident of Martinsville, passed from her earthly life at 11:55 PM on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at the IU Health Hospice House in Bloomington after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Beulah was one of five children born to the late Cosa and Chriselda (Thomas) Thacker. She was born on January 15, 1947 in Martinsville, Indiana.
Three days following her seventeenth birthday, Beulah married her soulmate and best friend, Camden Pottorff on January 18, 1964 in her parent’s house. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother who took pride and pleasure in her home and family. She had worked many years ago at the 3-D/Danner’s in Martinsville and at Arvin’s in Franklin. She was a longtime member of the First Mission Church in Martinsville, as well as, the American Legion Post #230 Ladies Auxiliary and the Greenwood Moose Lodge. Her greatest pastime was time shared with her grandchildren and family, however, she also enjoyed flower gardening, boating and crocheting.
Beulah will be missed by her loving family and friends, including her husband of fifty-three years, Camden G. Pottorff of Martinsville; sons, Greg Allen (wife, Julie) Pottorff of Franklin, IN and Michael Eugene (wife, Lisa) Pottorff of Martinsville; daughter, Shelly Kay (husband, Jesus) Ramirez of Franklin, IN; brothers, Gary (wife, Tina) Thacker of Mooresville and Eugene (wife, Mary) Thacker of Martinsville; sister, Judy Ann (husband, Jack) Gabbard of Georgetown, TX; five grandchildren, Tyler, Hunter and Dustin Pottorff, Andrew Todd Mitchell and Kayla Mason; and two great grandsons, Chance and Chase Pottorff.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Michael Joe Thacker.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, June 6th from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Neal & Summers Funeral and Cremation Center in Martinsville. Brother Gary Thacker will conduct a service celebrating Beulah’s life beginning at 1:00 PM at the funeral home on Tuesday and she will be laid to rest in Mt. Olive Fairview Cemetery in Martinsville following the service.
Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the IU Health Hospice House, 2810 S. Deborah Dr., Bloomington, IN 47403.
