Dennis Lanham

Dennis Ray Lanham, 74, a lifetime Morgan County resident, died Monday June 21, 2021 at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis. His life began on August 30, 1946 in Indianapolis when he was born to the late Robert and Ruby (Roberts) Lanham.

Dennis was a Martinsville High School graduate with the Class of 1964. While in high school, Dennis was a member of the MHS Basketball Team, playing in the semi-state in 1964 and held the record in the 100-yard dash in a flat 10 seconds. He enjoyed hunting, mushroom hunting, attending his grandson’s basketball games and socializing with his friends at the American Legion and Elks Club. Dennis also loved fishing and was a collector of many antique fishing lures, rods and reels. Dennis was a lifetime Yankee’s fan and he also loved the Cubs. His most treasured times, where time shared with his family and grandsons.

Dennis retired from Chem Central in Indianapolis in 1998. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 135, American Legion Post #230, Elks Lodge #1349 and the National Fishing Lure Collectors Club. He served 6 years in the Air National Guards.

On September 18, 1966, he married Pamelia (Allen) Lanham, she survives, living in Martinsville. He also leaves behind his only daughter, Lori Spears (husband, Steve); brother, James Lanham (wife, Donna); sister-in-law, Emma Lou Lanham all of Martinsville and his three grandsons, Troy (wife, Arielle), Trey (girlfriend, Aubrey Odgers) and Taye Spears; one great grandson, Bodhi Spears and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his only son, Richard Allen Lanham, parents, and brothers, Robert and Steve Lanham.

There will be private services and he will be laid to rest with military honors at Nebo Memorial Park Cemetery in Martinsville. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 6919 E. 10th St., Indianapolis, IN 46219.
