David Matthew Naugle

David Matthew Naugle, 5840 Mason Lane, a 27 year old maintenance mechanic for Central Soya Co Inc. in Indianapolis, was injured fatally Monday morning about 11:00am when he fell four stories from a scaffold. He died about 1:10pm in Wishard Memorial Hospital, and hospital paramedics said Naugle’s fall on the concrete caused head and internal injuries. Naugle was an employee of the company since 1974 and was moving equipment in a building where soybean oil is extracted from soybeans. Richard J. Bailey, plant manager, said that the firm was not clear on details of the accident and is conducting its own investigation.

Born Nov. 23, 1950 in Indianapolis, he was the son of Jack Naugle of Mooresville, and Maxine Smith Naugle of Charlotte, NC, and both survive.

He was married to Sandra Reed in December 1970, and she also survives, two children, Shane David Naugle 7 and Shawnda Lynn Naugle 3, both at home. A grandmother, Opal Smith of Martinsville, a brother, Dane Evan Naugle of Mooresville, and a sister, Andria Mosier of Fort Wayne.

Naugle lived in Morgan County most of his life and was a veteran of the Vietnam conflict and a graduate of Martinsville High School with the class of 1969.

He was very active in the Citizen Band organization and helped organize the club around Centerton area, his CB handle was “Davy Crockett”.

Services held at Neal and Summers Chapel, Interment will be in the Brooklyn Cemetery.
