Carol Lee Davey Obituary
Carol Lee Davey (Mattmann) passed from life into eternity on Friday, May 1, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She is now embraced in the arms of her Savior, full of peace and joy.
Carol was born on October 17, 1946, in St. Louis, MO to Lloyd and Camille Mattmann.
She grew up in Bridgeton, MO and graduated from Pattonville High School in 1964. Carol is preceded in death by her parents Lloyd and Camille, son Curt, brother Tom, stepson Brett, stepmother Diane, and stepsister Tammy. Carol is survived by the love of her life, husband William (Bill), daughter Jill, son Eric, stepchildren Jenna and Kyle, grandchildren Taylor (Josh), Jake, Melissa & Nicholas, and great grandchildren Charlie, Katelyn, Caleb, and Asher.
Carol enjoyed working at the Hazelwood Fire Department as the secretary for 26 years
before retiring. She was greatly respected and loved by the firefighters and staff she supported every day. One of Carol’s greatest passions was the Imperial Swing, a dance she not only mastered, but shared with others throughout her life. Her favorite partner was always her husband Bill, whom she taught to dance in their very early days. To Bill, she was more than just a dance partner, she was the love of his life. Whether she was hitting the dance floor at the Sports Café, or cheering on her favorite St. Louis teams.
Carol’s sweet but sassy spirit and love for staying active were always evident. She loved beach vacations and time with family, but she was also famous for her daily walks with Bill. The two were known throughout the neighborhood as the couple who always held hands.
She will be dearly missed by all her friends and family. https://www.alternativefuneralcremation.com/obituaries/Carol-Lee-Davey?obId=48302688

I was so sorry to hear of Carol's passing. Carol and I were roommates our first semester at SEMO, where we became good friends. Carol was a sweet, kind person and I was happy to hear that she found much love and happiness in her life. Love and condolences to her family and especially her daughter Jill who I knew as a baby.

I am so sorry to hear about Carol. When we were in school we often walked to classes together and I thought she was the most beautiful girl I ever saw in my life and I still think about those old days and still think she was one of the most beautiful girls I have ever met. She was always sweet, caring, personable and smart. It is a shame she has had to leave all of those who love her behind. RIP my dear friend, you will be remembered by many for many, many years.

Carol was a great classmate and friend to all. Always had such a beautiful smile! May she rest in peace in the hereafter.

My heart goes out to Carol's family - I know how this hurts. Carol was a great friend to me at PHS. "Sweet AND sassy" does describe her.~ she was lovely in so many ways, in personality, in mind and face, smart and beautifully smiling, and a really good dancer to boot, as mentioned by her family. (I was one of the few she couldn't teach it to - I had 3 left feet, or something like that!) As seniors Carol and I mostly went our separate ways (my parents were divorcing and I sort of let the rest of my world fall apart) but she was kind enough to still check on me through that year, until we all headed off to college and work. Another thing I always admired was that she avoided gossip, and I never heard Carol Mattmann say an unkind word about anyone, ever. Many times I have thought about her, hoped she was doing well in life (happily, I see she was!!), and remembeered her often as a good friend and a great person. God IS good, and I believe we may all get to see her again in the hereafter - I sure hope so!
