James Rumain's widow called me on Monday evening to let me know that he passed away on 01 November 2009 [probably in Concord, Contra Costa County, California; Jim Roof]

The following obituary appeared in the Contra Costa Times [thanks again to John Gardner for finding it]:

James M. Rumain, resident of Concord.

James Michael Rumain, 67, entered into rest in Concord 0n November 1, 2009. He was born in Jeannette, PAon September 15, 1942 to Hugo and Naomi (Mock) Rumain.

James proudly served in the US Army from 1959 to 1967 and was honorably discharged as Staff Sergeant. He was a Store Manager for Safeway Stores in Northern California before retiring in 1997 after 30 years of service.

James enjoyed many family activities including boating, camping, fishing and golf. He also was an avid fan of NASCAR.

James was greatly loved and respected by his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Ruth (Jaworski) Rumain; beloved daughters, Michele Bowman (married to Dan) and Ingrid Lawton (married to Ron); caring sisters, Barbara Baker and Janice Madrid; adored grandchildren, Jason, Matthew and Lareena and great-grandchildren, Kyra, Tanner and Trenton - to whom he was lovingly known as "Opa".

He will be truly missed by his family, friends and those who had the pleasure of making his acquaintance.

Visitation will commence at 12:00 Noon, with a Funeral Service at 1:00pm on Friday, November 6, 2009 at Ouimet Bros. Concord Funeral Chapel, 4125 Clayton Road, Concord, CA. Inurnment will be private in Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, Dixon, CA.

Jim was always there to lend a helping hand and memorials may be made to any Animal Rescue, Children's Charities or your own favorite charity.
