Bethany Lucas (Morris)

Bethany Lucas Williams, 50, passed away, Saturday, September 30, 2006 at her home in Alamogordo, New Mexico. She was born December 12, 1955 in Maryville, TN to Troy and Eula Mae (Willocks) Lucas. She was a former member of Central Baptist Church of Alcoa, TN where she became an accomplished pianist and organist. She received her Radiologic Technology training at Blount Memorial Medical Center in Maryville, TN and was employed as an active technologist from 1977-1987. During her tenure at Blount Memorial Medical Center, she was a Clinical Instructor in the Radiologic Technology program as well as Program Director. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Tusculum University in Greeneville, TN in Business Administration in 1986. From 1989 to 1999, she was the Director of the Diagnostic Imaging Center at DeKalb Medical Center in Decatur, GA. In August of 1988, she married Mel Williams in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. They moved to Alamogordo in May of 2003 where she was the Director of Radiology at Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, Troy and Eula Mae Lucas; an uncle, Lon Bridges; and a cousin, Marcus Walker. Survivors include her husband, Mel Williams; and her son, Cody Williams of the family home; her brother, Bernard "Luke" Lucas of Pahrump, NV; aunt, Ida Bridges; and cousins, Jeanette Brown, Janice Ray, Melvin Bridges, Jana Brooks and Larry Brown, of Maryville, TN. A "Celebration of Life" will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, October 7, 2006 in the Administration Conference Room at Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center. Cremation has taken place locally under the direction of Alamogordo Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested contributions be sent to Cody's college fund c/o Mel E. Williams; 468 Desert Lakes Rd; Alamogordo, NM 88310 or directly to the account set up for Cody at Wells Fargo Bank; P.O. Box 630; Alamogordo, NM 88311 to the attention of Mel E. and/or Cody D. Williams.

BETHANY AND I WENT TO GRADE SCHOOL TOGETHER AND SHE WAS THE SWEETEST PERSON I KNOW. IT DIDNT MATTER IF YOU WERE POOR ARE RICH BETHANY TREATED YOU THE SAME. IT WAS HARD TO FIND FRIENDS LIKE HER. THE STORY I CAN REMMBER MOST WAS WHEN WE WENT TO MENTOR TOGETHER AND WE WERE IN THE 8TH GRADE MR. JAMES LILLARD WAS OUR PRINCIPLE (this was another fine person loved him to death and his wife also) THIS WAS THE YEAR THAT HE HAD GOTTEN RAN OVER BY A TRACTOR AND WAS AND CRITICAL CONDITION WE HAD A SUBSTITUTE. MEANING WE THOUGHT WE COULD GET BY WITH ANYTHING WELL MELVIN HARMON AND COREY BERRGRENN TALKED THE WHOLE CLASS INTO FLIPPING PENNYS WE WERE READY TO GO TO VEGAS NEEDLESS TO SAY THE WHOLE CLASS GOT CAUGHT AND THERE WENT ALL OF OUR PENNY FORTUNE AND WE HAD TO WRITE WE SHALL NOT GAMBLE IN THE CLASSROOM. THIS WAS SO EMBARASSING FOR ALL THE GIRLS OF COURSE....THE GIRLS WERE BEATING THE BOYS BUT WE HAD TO GIVE THERE MONEY BACK..I HATED TO HEAR ABOUT BETHANY SHE WAS SO SPECIAL TO OUR CLASS AT MENTOR AND EVERETT.
