Lois Jean Painter

November 8th, 1932 - March 8th, 2025

 

Lois Jean Painter, born on November 8, 1932, in Lewellen, Nebraska, to Ralph and Bertha Williams, lived a full 92 years. A rambunctious country girl, she roamed the Sandhills of Nebraska alongside her two beloved sisters, Erma and Blanche, enjoying their life on the ranch. In 1946, the family moved to McCook, Nebraska, where Lois embraced city life and graduated from high school in 1950.

 

Lois got a job at Gambles hardware store in McCook, where she met her future husband, Ron, in 1950. They married in 1952, and after some years of moving around following Ron's military service, they settled in Arvada, Colorado where they spent many years in love and raising their 3 children: Cheryl born in 1958, Keith born in 1961, and Sheila born in 1962. After enjoying many years as a homemaker, she then used her green thumb and went to work at Crownhill Floral and following that, Lotito’s Greenhouse.

 

Lois was very active in the Maple Grove Grange and the Lions Club of Arvada, becoming the club, President. She spent many hours volunteering helping to bring the gift of sight to many people around the world. She spent many years as a member of the Lutheran Church, passing on her passions to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

 

She is preceded in death by her sister Erma Orman and her husband Ronald.

 

She is survived by her 3 children and their spouses, Cheryl and Perry Gillenwater, Keith Painter, and Sheila Cary, her 7 grandchildren, Amanda Gillenwater, Linda and Patrick Gale, Maura Painter, Allison Painter, Sarah Painter, Travis Cary and Adam Cary, and her 2 great grandchildren, Henry and Evelyn Gale. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Blanche and Ed Stoller, and her sisters-in-law, Pam Reed and Janie Painter.

 

Funeral services will take place at Risen Christ Lutheran Church 14850 W. 72nd Ave, Arvada Colorado on Tuesday March 18th at 10am.

 

Lois Jean Painter will be laid to rest in Fort Logan Cemetery alongside her Husband Ronald Painter.
