Dave was born May 16, 1960 to parents Doug & Carol (Nelson) DeFrang. He was the oldest of five children. He married Vicki Eggers, and they had three children: Matthew, Nicholas & Melissa. Dave & Vicki later divorced, and he raised the children as a single parent. He was an active leader in Boy Scouts, and coached youth baseball and basketball. He was a former president of the Erskine Athletic Park Committee. He passed away on January 23, 2005 in Erskine, MN.
