James Tipton

James Robert "Jim" Tipton, 54 of Old Hickory (Nashville), Tennessee, died October 23,1996, of cancer at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He was retired US Army (SFC) and was a civil service health technician.  Jim served two tours in Viet Nam.

Survivors at Jim's date of death included his wife, Barbara Taylor Tipton, of the home; mother Helen K.Tipton of Newton, KS; sons James Tipton Jr, Nashville; John Raymond Tipton, Germany; and Warren Calvin Tipton, Germany; step-son Eric Lee Connell of Old Hickory; step-daughters Susan Joyce Robinson, Donaldson, TN; Kristina Beth Connell, Hermitage, TN; brother Michael Tipton, McPherson; and sisters Carol Cook of Newton, KS, and Barbara Alexander, Wichita.

Jim was born on September 18, 1942, in Newton, KS to Warren and Helen Kirchmer Tipton.

Services were held October 29,1996 at Peterson Funderal Home in Newton. Jim is buried in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Newton.
