Ned N. Engleson, 51, passed away December 13, 2012 at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center in Medford, surrounded by family. He was born November 13, 1961 in Medford to Dr. David P. Engleson and Jean A (Torgerson) Engleson.

Ned graduated from Medford Senior High School in 1980, where he was a member of the debate team. He received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Southern Oregon University in 1986, then embarked on a career as an analytical chemist. Ned worked at labs in Oregon, Washington, and California, but the bulk of his career was with Nielsen Research Corporation in Medford, most recently as their Organic Technical Manager. At Nielsen, Ned was considered a master at trouble-shooting instruments and developing new methods and was loved for his sense of humor.

Ned was known for his quick wit and intelligence, sense of humor, and easy smile. His favorite memories were of the times he spent in Hawaii and at the ranch in Gold Hill with his son and family. He enjoyed eclectic music, good movies, reading, telling funny stories around campfires, and The Colbert Report.

Ned is survived by his son, Niles, of Petaluma, Cal.; his father, Dr. David Engleson of Medford; three brothers, Paul of Woodbridge, Virginia, Joel (Victoria) of Medford, and Leo (Julie) of Medford; one sister, Jill (Gary) of Bend; and nieces and nephews Ashley, Carley, Leslie, Sam, Andrea, Sofie, and Jonah. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jean and his brother, Dean.

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Masonic Lodge, 975 N. Phoenix Rd., in Medford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Addiction Recover Center (ARC) of Medford.

Your quick wit and great smile will be missed! I wish we could have gotten together as we were planning before you were taken away. Rest in peace big buddy. I will miss you.
