Kim Fowler (Kim Schlafke)

Kim Fowler (Kim Schlafke)

Kim fought a valiant battle with cancer, but unfortunately lost that battle on Sunday Oct 30th 2011.

She will be missed, it was nice that she was able to join us at the 30th reunion in 2010 for a last blast with the class.

Kim's Obituary from the Dec 18th Meford Mail Tribune:

Kim Marie Fowler-Schlafke

November 6, 1962 October 30, 2011

"The specialness is found in the ordinariness of our lives.

The past is gone, the future might never be, all we really have is now. Here's hoping you are enjoying everybit of your now."

Livin' on a prayer, Kim

Kim passed away October 30, 2011, after a 16-month battle with metastatic melanoma. She was an intuitive, vibrant spirit who was the ultimate warrior woman.

Kim was born and spent most of her life in Medford, Ore., where she leaves a remarkable footprint on our valley. Kim was tireless and enthusiastic in whatever endeavor she undertook. A 1980 graduate of North Medford High School, she was incredibly diverse and on any given day could be found playing powderpuff football, cheering on the Black Tornadoes as a varsity cheerleader, taking photographs, writing or cruising with friends in her dad's fine cars.

Kim was a true entrepreneur, highly successful real estate broker/owner for 22 years, home builder and mortgage broker. Kim was a talented writer, artist and cook. She was a tree designer for Festival of Trees, and classroom volunteer. At the top of the list, Kim was an amazing mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend and inspiration to so many.

Those who had the privilege of knowing her will never forget the unbridled passion for life and spirituality she always had with her. She was an example of courage, strength, fortitude, fun and most of all love! Kim was a brilliant light that has gone out too soon. May she always be remembered for the joy and laughter she brought to all of our lives.

Kim is survived by her pride and joy, sons, Peyton (12) and Hudson (7); her parents, Steve Fowler and Lynda Wingfield; her sister, Cindra Fowler; and her brother, Adam Fowler; along with an abundance of family and great friends.

A service will be held at 2:00 p.m., December 27, 2011, at First Baptist Church, 649 Crater Lake Avenue, Medford, Ore.

I had a wonderful opportunity to get to know Kim this past year and a half. In her galiant battle with the monster cancer, I learned what an amazing, eloquent writer she was. I watched my in-box for her latest letter to see how she was doing. She was always upbeat and determined to beat that disease. Her letters stopped coming in June. This past month she was on my mind daily and in my prayers. I am thankful that she is now at peace and resting with God. My continued prayers for her family and especially those beautiful boys of hers. What a truly gifted talent lost by those of us who knew her...
