Douglas A. Birch of Medina entered into rest on Jan. 22, 2020. He was born March 25, 1947 to the late Rolland and Shirley Birch. Doug was a Medina High School graduate and held a degree in culinary arts. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1968-1971 and was proud to be a Vietnam Veteran. Doug was employed by the Medina Police Department, Conrail, Fisher-Price and Whiting Door. He was predeceased by his sisters, Sharon (Birch) Miller and Claireann (Birch) Brooks of Medina. And his nephew Travis Gray of Rochester. Survivors include his loving brother and sister-in-law, Brian and Vickie Birch; nieces: Randi (Steve) Stanek of Medina, Leigh (Jon) Smith of SC, Chandra and Erin Gray of Medina, Ashley Birch of Fla., and Kelli (Rich) of Holley; nephews: Joshua (Monique) Cogavan of Middleport and Benjamin Birch of Fla.; as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews and his longtime buddy, Salem. Doug enjoyed cooking and was an avid reader and history buff. He will be remembered for his culinary creations, generous spirit, and unusually infectious laughter. There will be a private celebration of life to be determined by the family. Donations will be gratefully accepted in Doug’s name at the Albion Animal Shelter and Adoption Center.
