Gary L. Bolte, age 83, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, a man of faith, was called home to walk through the gates of Heaven on August 24, 2026. He was born on November 10, 1942, in Hinckley, Ohio.

After graduating from Highland High School, Gary helped his dad until 1964 when he enlisted in the United States Army. One of the greatest honors of his life was serving as a body escort for a young soldier from Toledo, Ohio, who was killed in Vietnam. Over the years he kept in contact with the family. While serving in the Army, Gary was stationed at Fort Knox, where he attended Finance School. He carried the knowledge and skills he gained there into his civilian life. Gary later earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and went on to own and operate his own business.

According to what he posted on our Highland High School website in 1967 he returned to civilian life and he started working at Holiday Health Clubs, later know as Vic Tanny Health and Fitness Clubs of America and stayed in that business for 2 decades.

In 1974 he married his wife Adelaide (known as Kittie) and became the father of 4 step-children.

Flying became a passion of his in the 1970's. He used his GI Bill to attend flight school....earning Private, Commercial and Instrument flights ratings. He indicated it opeed up many opportunites for business and recreation flying.

In 1970's he and his famiy relocated to Michigan for better employment opportunnities. Family was very important to him and he enjoyed attending sport activities they were involved in as well as skiing, snowmobiling and all the activities Micghigan had to offer in Michigan.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Carrie Bolte; stepson, James Ireland; and granddaughter, Heather M. Hug.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Adelaide Ireland-Bolte; stepchildren, Jeri Nally (John), Jeffery Ireland (Chandra), and Gregory Ireland (Rachel); brother, Sharen Bolte; 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and many dear friends.

Private graveside services were held at Cascade Cemetery.
