As we transitioned from sophomores to juniors, we had a wonderful time. Maturity was ever present, but many of us were still shy with limited conversation for our peers. John T just mentioned the MLK50 Commemoration. Where we were and what we experianced during that time motivated many of us. Yet, some of us still remain silent. To quote Dr. King "In the End, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends." It's time to reach out to your classmates and get them excited and involved with planning the 50th Class Reunion. Call someone, text or send them an email. Invite them to the upcoming "All Class Picnic"in the park during Memorial Day Weekend. We survived 1968, prepare for your images from 1969.....

To make this reunion more inclusive and get more people involved, I would like to suggest starting a committee to contact alumni members who do not use the web site.  Everyone does not go to our web site and we have the time...

If you invest the time earlier to create structure and process around communication, planning, and goal-setting, you can prevent missteps before they occur. ~ Christine Tsai ~

Thanks John for an extremely powerful suggestion. The author referenced above completely agrees with you. There was a list of email addresses, phone numbers and home addresses compiled during the 45th Reunion. I cannot find my copy. I may have given it away.  Maybe someone who reads from the forum would bring it to the upcoming 2nd Annual All Alumni Picnic on May 26th and give a copy to Mickie. Might I also suggest one of the current core members reach out to this website for starters; http://www.classmates.com/places/school/Washington-High-School/6176?startYear=1966&endYear=1970&type=registration . Continue making suggestions John, they're appreciated.

APOLOGY TO FELIPPA !

e·gre·gious outstandingly bad; shocking, appalling, terrible, awful, horrendous, frightful, atrocious, abominable, abhorrent, outrageous;

I wish to extend an apology to Felippa. While wishing her a Happy Birthday, previously, I posted an image of Betty Boyd, Joycelyn and Iretha. I thought I'd copied an image of Felippa to post so that everyone would be included. I assure you, this will not occur again. Basically, classmates need to see you Felippa, and others as well. Some of us have forgotten how each other now looks. I guess everyone saw the images and believed that it was a part of the normal process. It wasn't my intent.  Would someone local, attending the 2ND Annual Alumni Picnic on May 26th please take pictures and post to the website. Felippa, I ask that you accept my most humble apology...

I believe forgiveness is the best form of love in any relationship. It takes a strong person to say they're sorry and an even stronger person to forgive.

U.S. Rep. Cohen: Keeping teen 'safekeeper' in adult prison 'particularly egregious'.

Just the other day, I made an EGREGIOUS mistake, however I extended an apology to my dear friend Felippa, and she has forgiven me. I also was able to find my yearbook, which was boxed up in the garage. Upon further review for comparisons, this set of aged eyes indicates these ladies really do look similar. You all be the judge...

You must develop personal contacts if you want to be successful. ~ Armstrong Williams ~

Thanks Larry, for the email to all 77 classmates concerning the upcoming All Alumni Picnic. As a result, we have received another "Bounceback Notification", indicating an incorrect address for Margie McRae Reed. If anyone has her contact information, please contact her and ask her to follow the information listed below:

How do I fix a bounceback problem? You cannot do it yourself. Here is the procedure for handling bouncebacks:

  1. Contact the classmate at a different email address or by phone. Inform the classmate that his or her email address is bouncing.
  2. When the classmate logs into the web site a copy of the bounce notice is displayed.
  3. Classmate has the opportunity to enter an updated email address. If current email address is valid classmate may opt to keep current email address.
  4. Classmate must click the link provided to send a verification email (this is to be sure email is actually getting through now).
  5. Classmate must receive the verification email and click the link inside. The bounce problem is now solved and classmate can receive emails from the site again.

EXTENDING BIRTHDAY WISHES TO BETTY & JULIA

Hello Wendy!

Welcome to the web-site!  I am so looking forward to engaging with you both online and in-person!  We are trying to stay active with each other and, as such, we try to have periodic events so that we can all get together and have some fun!  I am hoping that we are able to start the birthday celebrations back up!  And...we are starting to talk and plan for our reunion!

GREETINGS WARRIORS !

I've been off the reservation for some days now and didn't have immediate access to a computer. Let me first began by extending a belated "Happy Birthday" to Marilyn Burton Wright.  I'd also like to welcome Wendy to the website and thank Estella for the announcement concerning Amella. News of our classmates should always be provided to the administrators for posting, so that we may be aware of and share their achievements.  During my time away, I had the wonderful pleasure to visit with numerous classmates, while I was in Memphis. My visit coincided with two events which truely promoted the anxiousness of participating in the upcoming 50TH Class Reunion. Unfortunately for me, I attended a family reunion in Missouri the same day of the All Alumni Picnic. I've been told that kudos should be extended to Edward Johnson, Jimmy Powell and Chef Larry Milligan. I won't steal any thunder from Felippa,I understand that she has additional words to express about the success of the picnic.

Opportunely though, I was able to visit with everyone who attended the gathering at Bahama Breeze Wolfchase to show LOVE, EXTEND CONDOLENCES and CREATE NEW MEMORIES for Liz Marzette. "Blest be the ties that binds Our hearts in Christian love, the fellowship of kindred minds, is like to that above." Ardent prayers were uttered, jokes filled the air, unrestrained laughter flowed constantly and we all were truely blessed.  We had an awesome time of fellowship together. It's been suggested that whenever a classmate is visiting the city, a gathering should be planned for extending fellowship. Please make Mickey or Larry aware of any visitations. William Arnold and I took pictures to share with Liz and our classmates. We hope that you enjoy the images....
