Bo and I lived in a new apartment off the campus of Miss. St. our freshman year. Bo set the rules here and his first decree was that "Any day with a D in it would be an official party day!"...The only exception would be Sunday, our day of rest." We rented furniture, and adorned the den with bright, neon bouncing and flashing beer signs we were given by the nearby beer distributor with our every purchase. Lastly we made room for one additional item...A #9 wash tub filled with dirt, gravel and water to house "Alfred," Bo's pet alligator! As to the happenings occurring here, I can only rejoice .."That the Walls Could Not Speak!"

The year consisted of numerous "Road Trips," including Biloxi for Spring Break and Gatlingburg, just to hang out with fellow graduates attending UT. Along with following the "Bulldogs" on away game weekends, our travels included a required, monthly New Orleans run. Having led a sheltered life during my high school years, I was amazed as I was introduced to the world of "Wine, Women and Song!" by my friend.

While I could go on for hours recounting our times together, I will simply say... Bo was a dear friend!...smart, funny and one who would stick with you through "Thick and Thin!" I cherished our time together and am better off having known him!

When I read that Bo was dead, I thought I hadn't known him but certainly knew his name.  I tried and couldn't remember any interactions between us. I looked up his picture in the 65' Crossroads anyway, and I was warmly surprized by the smile that jumped to my face.  That smile came from somewhere in me that does not forget, from somewhere that remembered Bo warmly and playfully. It was a unique and charming experience.

Thanks, Bo.

I knew Bo most of my life from Whitehaven Elementary School days through high school.  He was a fun guy.  I felt that I got to know him the most at our quarterly WHS luncheons at the Piccadilly in our retirement years. On the last occasion I saw him at a luncheon he was wearing a very colorful western shirt.  I complimented him on the shirt and told him that he reminded me of Willie Nelson in that shirt.  He got a laugh out of that, but seemed to appreciate the comment.  Bo was always kind to me, and it was nice to have known him.  I spent a lot of time in his dad's music store on Highland buying sheet music.  His dad was also a very kind person and a great talent.
