Richard C. Larson

Richard C. Larson

February 3, 1957 - August 28, 2020

Richard C. Larson (Rich), age 63, of Shorewood died unexpectedly August 28, 2020.  Loving husband of Tricia.  Adoring father of Sarah and James. Although Rich spent the first 11 years of his life growing up on the family farm in Monroe, WI, it would be Menomonee Falls High School that would spring board him to college and his future career.  Rich graduated with a degree in accounting from University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire and promptly began worki
ng for Ernst & Young.  Oh the fun he had, meeting and working with all the other grunts of ’79, many of whom remain close friends today.  It is also during his Ernst years that Rich met his future wife, Tricia.  While chatting at a Brewers game they immediately bonded over cricket - he was smitten.  He followed her back to London and the rest is history.  Together, they created a loving and supportive family with Sarah and James.  Rich enjoyed a successful career in banking as CFO of WaterStone Bank, Guarantee Bank and finally, Kohler Credit Union.

Most people would know Rich as a quiet, disciplined, conservative guy; and he was all of those things, but also he was funny, quirky, thoughtful and very kind. He loved his family, ice cream, an occasional scotch, definitely any beer from Enlightened, the Badgers, the Packers, travel, music, and dancing. But most of all, Rich enjoyed sitting around a dinner table with Tricia, Sarah, and James.  As a family we were very lucky to have many summer vacations in England, Scotland and Jersey - Channel Islands, visiting family.  Upon arrival in the UK, Rich would automatically adopt a special accent, amusing us all to no end, because he sounded like Dick Van Dyke in “ Mary Poppins.”

Rich was uncomplicated, with a strong work ethic.  He was a good friend and neighbor who shared his gifts and talents freely with many organizations over the years.  Focusing most recently on small business and start-ups with the Wisconsin Women’s Business Initiative Corporation (WWBIC) and teaching high school students in Milwaukee Public Schools how to navigate personal finance.  Rich was a quietly unassuming and gentle man who went about what he was doing and allowed others to do the same.  You’d be hard pressed to find another like him.

We will miss him.

Rich is survived by his wife of 37 years, Tricia; his two children Sarah and James; his mother, Kathryn Elmquist; his siblings Elizabeth Larson Steele, Steve Larson, and Ann Larson. He is predeceased by his father Donald Larson and his sister Kelly Moen (Larson).

Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Feerick Funeral Home on Saturday, September 5th, 2020.  Visitation will be followed by a celebration of Rich’s life at Enlightened Brewing, 2020 S Allis Street, Milwaukee at 5:00 pm.
