THOMAS MATHIE OBITUARY

Mathie, Thomas Michael Born Aug. 3, 1964. Born to eternal life Oct. 3, 2016 in Barrington, IL after a courageous battle with brain cancer. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Lisa Mox Mathie and daughter Madeline (Maddie). Thom is the son of James and Barbara (Bobbie) Mathie of Sussex,WI. He is the son-in-law of Evelyn (the late Dana) Mox of Barrington, IL. Thom grew up in Menomonee Falls, the 5th of 7 children; James (Patricia) of Waukesha, WI, Patricia (John) Lorbiecki of Maple Grove, MN, Edward of Edina, MN, William (Sue Amendolara) of Edinboro, PA, Bridget (Andrew) Ferguson of Minneapolis, MN and John (Anne) of West Bend, WI. He is also survived by 3 brothers-in-law; Mark (Susan) of San Jose, CA, Chris (Amor) of Miami, FL and Scott of Barrington, IL. Thom, Lisa and Maddie treasured their times at Wah-Ca-Zi-Zi (Evelyn's home on Lake Tomahawk) in Minocqua, WI.

Thom was a great lover of life and a positive force for many. An avid fisherman, A/K/A muskyman, with many photos, videos and trophies to show his prowess, he instead best enjoyed getting others their first musky. He was well-known throughout the north woods of Wisconsin for his row trolling (in a boat he designed and built), kayaking, four wheeling and biking. He was a vast storehouse of knowledge on virtually any topic of discussion. Thom was a best friend to several brothers.

Thom will be dearly missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was a valuable and indispensable friend to so many - in all different walks of life - who originally met him merely by chance. A Memorial Service to celebrate Thom's life will be held at Barrington United Methodist Church, 98 Algonquin Road, Barrington, Illinois 60010 on Saturday, November 5, 2016. Visitation at Noon, Service at 1:00 PM. There will be a reception at McGonigal's Pub, 105 South Cook St., Barrington immediately following the Service.
