Donald E. "Donnie" McCoy, 57, of 30 Lincoln Ave., Waynesboro, Pa., was welcomed home to the waiting arms of our Father, Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, following a brave battle with cancer.
Born Nov. 23, 1954, in McConnellsburg, Pa., he was the son of the late William D. and Viola Mae (King) McCoy of Williamson, Pa.
Donnie thoroughly enjoyed the "do-it-yourself" lifestyle in his own home, as well as helping his friends and family with their projects. He took pride in his work and that pride was reflected in his smile. One of Donnie's greatest pleasures was traveling the Blue Ridge Parkway and attending the annual Mayberry Days Festival in Mount Airy, N.C., with his wife, Tina.
Donnie was employed as a welder at Bri-Mar Manufacturing in Chambersburg, Pa.
He attended Lemasters United Methodist Church, Lemasters, Pa.
He is survived by his wife, Tina Marie (Davis) McCoy, whom he married in 1995; a daughter, Mandy Walls and her husband, Eric of Fayetteville, Pa; a stepson, Cory Kaiser of Mercersburg, Pa.; a stepdaughter, Nikki Kaiser of Waynesboro; two granddaughters, Kylie and Taylor; two brothers, Terry McCoy and his wife, Tracey of Mont Alto, Pa., and Gary McCoy and his wife, Jean of Williamson; and one sister, Debbie Condon of Olympia, Wash.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012, in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, with Pastor Grant Brouse officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening, in the funeral home.
Anyone who new Donnie, knows he wasn't a "suit and tie man." He believed in being comfortable. For this reason, he asked to go Home in his pajamas so he could be ready to rest. He also requested that those attending the service dress casually.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lemasters United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 103, Lemasters, Pa. 17231.
