DURHAM - Patricia Elizabeth Crowley, 66, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 14, 2016, surrounded by family at her home in Durham.

Born Oct. 23, 1949, in Meriden, Patricia devoted her life to education, working as a teacher and guidance counselor in Meriden and serving as the principal of Parker Farms Elementary School in Wallingford from 1991 to 2009. She was a fearless trailblazer who applied her strong, selfless leadership as an administrator to every aspect of her life. Even after her cancer diagnosis, Patricia never lost her ability to smile through adversity and live life to the fullest. She filled her passport with stamps from Ireland, Italy, Spain, England, France, Mexico, and St. Maarten. In 2013, while wearing her portable chemo pack, she won the Club Championship at the Wallingford Country Club. Patricia was a light in the life of so many, but especially for her family, who will miss her generosity of spirit, her infectious laughter, impeccably hosted holidays at her home, and her insistence on cloth napkins for every meal. Patricia's joyous spirit will remain with all who knew her, reminding us to choose happiness. Patricia was predeceased by her parents, Patrick J. and Mary (Allen) Cadden; her two brothers, Thomas P. and Kevin J. Cadden; and her sister, Kathleen M. Cadden.

Patricia is survived by children, Maggie Crowley, and Brett Crowley and his wife, Jill; her sisters, Judy Cadden, Sheila Cadden, Marybeth and her husband, Chris Wyrtzen; several nieces and nephews, (Jeffrey Wyrtzen and his wife, Kate; Thomas Cadden and his wife, Sarah; Ryan Wyrtzen and his fiancée, Julia; Brady Wyrtzen, Taylor Cadden and her husband, Douglas; Megan Wyrtzen, Patrick Cadden, and Casey Cadden); great-nieces, Kayla and Teagen Cadden; and great-nephews, John Patrick Wyrtzen, and Douglas Cadden-Martinez.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service to be held on Friday, Aug. 19, at 10 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Cemetery Mausoleum, 250 Gypsy Lane, Meriden.
