Raymond Joseph McElroy, 72, passed away suddenly on Sunday, February 14, 2021. He is survived by his long term girlfriend, Dawn Darcey of Meriden.

Raymond was born in Meriden on March 23, 1948. He was the son of the late Raymond E. McElroy and Mary Elizabeth McElroy (Ryder). He grew up in Meriden and was a graduate of Platt High School. After graduating high school, Raymond served in the U.S. Army. He was a long time butcher before taking ownership of Mutt & Jeff's Cafe in Wallingford. He had a passion for fishing, watching the Red Sox play baseball, cooking and listening to classic rock and roll music. He was a wonderful father, grandfather and friend. He was loved by many and will be forever missed.

Raymond is survived by his don Jason McElroy and wife Deanna of Wallingford, daughter Stacey Giesbrandt and husband Eddie of Berlin and son Randy McElroy and wife Heather of Plantsville. Raymond is also survived by his 3 beloved grandchildren, Amber and Kailee Giesbrandt and Declan McElroy. He is also survived by a sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Carlson and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters Helen (Sis) Langer, Louis Disharoon, Joan Cossette and Patricia Stanton.
