Elizabeth "Liz" Michelle Aleshire, 59, of Manchester, formerly of Meriden, died Monday, Oct. 13, 2008 at the Hartford Hospital.

Born in Meriden, April 2, 1949, a daughter of the late Robert and Lucille Prince Aleshire, she had been a Meriden resident for many years until moving to Manchester 10 years ago. She had been employed by the Robert Half International, Inc. in Hartford for several years. Liz began writing as a hobby, which lead to a career in writing and has had several books published, including one that she had just finished, which is to be published in several months. She was also very active with the Meriden Democratic Party in the 1970's and had served on the Meriden City Council.

She is survived by her sister, Nancy I Skinnon and her husband, Mark of Meriden; and their daughter, Colleen; an aunt; and several cousins in New York; and several nieces, nephews; and her former husband, Herbert Greenbacker. She was predeceased by her son, Nathan Greenbacker and her brother Ralph Aleshire.
