Mr. Bloom passed away on Febr. 2 2017. I was lucky to have him for English in 10th and 12th grades! What a dresser, worked the parimutuel windows at dog track and I believe Jai Alai also. I remember Bod Dimmick was in 12th English and was a wise guy but Mr. Bloom would always smile at his antics. There was a reference to " backbite" in some work we read and every time Alan would say the word Dimmick would turn his head and make a biting noise like he was biting his back, Alan always smiled and would tell him to quiet down but always in a good way, what a great teacher.

Alan Bloom was the most inspirational teacher I remember. His teaching technique was unique and I really enjoyed being in his class.

Always looked forward to his class and enjoyed it immensely, great sense of humor and the best dressed teacher by far. So sorry to hear passed away.
