Richard "Dick" L. Emerson

Rolesville

Richard "Dick" L. Emerson, 75, of Rolesville passed away Thursday, December 20, 2018. He was born July 10, 1943 in Miami, Florida, son of the late Ralph and Helen (Lahm) Emerson.

Dick graduated from Miami High School Class of 1961, where he was named All American Football and Baseball. Dick was inducted into the Miami High School Football Hall of Fame in 1998.

Dick attended Georgia Tech, graduating in 1966 with his Bachelor of Science Degree. He earned his Varsity Letter for baseball in 1963 and 1964 and for football in 1962 and 1964. Dick retired after working many years for Johnson & Johnson in the athletic department. Next to his family Dick loved fishing. He was a member of The Raleigh Saltwater Fishing Club and a member of The Baitwasters Team. Dick will be remembered for his sense of humor and most of all for his integrity.

Along with his parents, Dick was predeceased by his brother Jim Emerson.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Betty, his three children: Duke Emerson, Debbie Clark, and Eric Emerson (Wendi); his granddaughter Jennifer Nelson, cousin, Pat Ennis his niece Meri Linn, and nephews: Jamie, Rob and J.D.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2019 in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home, 405 S. Main St. Wake Forest, NC. 27587. Family and friends may visit following the service at the funeral home.
