James V. "Coach" Roller, 55, went to live peacefully with his Lord on Sunday, July 11, 2010. Celebration of life: A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 1800 West Freeway, Fort Worth, Pastor John Messman officiating. Fellowship with family and friends will follow. James was born Oct. 31, 1954, in Lindsay, Okla., to C.E. "Cack" Roller and Patsy Roller. The family moved to Texas where he attended public school. James graduated from Midland Lee High School in Midland. He attended and played football at the University of Texas at Austin, transferred to the University of North Texas in 1977 and graduated with a bachelor's degree in 1979. Later, he also received his master's in education from UNT. James and Melba Sharp Roller married in 1979 and were married for 31 years. He worked as a coach and an educator for the same 31 years at Brewer High School, from 1979-2001, Arlington Heights High from 2001-2007, retired from public school in 2007, and finished his career at Southwest Christian School, from 2007-2010. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fort Worth. James was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, H.H. "Buck" Roller, Geneda "Shorty" Shewmake; his maternal grandparents, William Vernon Burkleo, and Anna "Pat" Newby; and sister, Carolyn Roller. Survivors: Wife, Melba; sons, David James, Jordan James and Samuel James Roller; parents, Cack and Patsy Roller; and the many other family members, friends, students and athletes he impacted with his life.
