Steven David Ellis, 53, of Salt Lake City, passed away peacefully in his home on May 11, 2016. He was welcomed into the arms of his loving mother after losing his battle with addiction. Steve was knowledgeable, kind-hearted, warm-spirited, and a talented musician known for his sense of humor. He grew up in the family R.V. business, served an LDS mission in Cleveland, Ohio, then lived his dream as a commercial airline pilot for 23 years.
Steve is survived by: his father, David Ellis; his brother, Doug (Ruth); his sisters, Cheryl (Dewey), Michelle (Leda), Diane (Steve), Denise (Steve); his children, Kylie (Ryan), Trey (Rachelle), Caitlin, Brooke; his grandchildren, Naomi, Oliver, Thea; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ellis and his sister, Barbara Ellis.
A viewing will be held Sunday, May 15, 2016 at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State Street, Murray, UT 84107, from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 16, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Church on 6350 Rodeo Lane, Salt Lake City, Utah 84121, with a viewing one hour prior. Interment: Elysian Burial Gardens, 1075 E. 4580 South, Salt Lake City, UT 84117.
