Roy Dixon

The death of Mr. Burden "Roy" Dixon, 61, of Tennille, occurred June 2, 2010, at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sisters Baptist Church in Sandersville with the Rev. Burt Parker and the Rev. Darell Young officiating.

Burial will follow at Nunn-Wheeler Cemetery in Wilkinson County with Masonic Graveside rites.

Roy was a local manager for Georgia Power Company with more than 36 years of service. He served as chairman of the Board of Trustees of Nunn-Wheeler Cemetery and was the former chairman of the Wilkinson County Chamber of Commerce and the Washington County Chamber of Commerce. Roy was a member of the Sisters Baptist Church, the Gordon Masonic Lodge and the Tennille Rotary Club.

An avid sports fan, Roy coached teams for many years with the Washington County Recreation Department. He supported the Washington County Golden Hawks Baseball team and served as president of the Dugout Club for three years. Roy was a graduate of Baldwin County High School and a devoted husband and father to his family.

Roy is survived by his wife, Denise Brown Dixon; son, Ryan Dixon; daughter, Kelli Dixon, all of Tennille; brother, Jerry C. Dixon of Milledgeville; sisters, Frances (Gerald) Reeves and Shirley Wall, both of Milledgeville, Joyce Gordon of Bryon and Carolyn Scarborough of Macon.

The family will be at Moores Funeral Home in Milledgeville, from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday for friends to call and at the residence, 13 Club Forest Drive, Tennille.
