Wayne Etheridge

Douglas “Wayne” Etheridge age 69, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2019. Private services will be held April 12, 2019 at Cooperville Baptist Cemetery with Dr. Ed Smith officiating.

Wayne was a lifelong resident of Baldwin County and made his home in the Coopers Community. He served as a teacher with the Baldwin County School System for 30 years where he taught at Harrisburg School and Sallie Davis Elementary. Wayne was a member of Cooperville Baptist Church and was devoted to his community. He initiated the first Neighborhood Watch Program for Coopers Community.

Wayne was preceded in death by his father Julian “Pete” Etheridge, his mother Fannie Lee Layfield Etheridge, sister Ida Lavinia Etheridge Harrison and brother Tony Merlin Etheridge.

Survivors include his brothers Julian Etheridge, James (Shirley) Etheridge, Lamar (Brenda) Etheridge and John Etheridge along with several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to the staff at Savannah Court.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Cooperville Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 100 Coopers Church Rd. SW Milledgeville, GA 31061.
