Obituary for Dr. Edwin Whitaker Allen III

Dr. Edwin (Buddy) Allen III, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on July 14, 2018, at the age of 69. A visitation will be held Monday, July 16, 2018 at Kimbrell-Stern from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM.

He was born in Augusta, GA on June 9, 1949 to Dr. Edwin Whitaker Allen, Jr. and Kathryn West Rooke. Buddy practiced Emergency Medicine at Phoebe Putney Hospital for 31 years. He enjoyed being outdoors, especially boating, diving and biking and was the happiest in the company of his dogs. He was a loving and generous husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Linda Coley Allen, children: Tait Allen Stoddard and her husband, Rob, Edwin “Whit” Whitaker Allen IV and Burton “Cole” Coley Allen. He adored his grandchildren: Mary Whitaker Stoddard (14), Robert Wadsworth Stoddard, Jr. (12) and William Burton Stoddard (10). He is also survived by his brothers, Billy Allen and Powell Allen and sisters, Betsy Allen and Cathy Allen McDonald.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Stacy Marie Allen.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Willson Hospice House, 320 Foundation Lane, Albany, GA 31707 or to a charity of their choice.
