Thanks to the team for working on the reunion options. I'm just posting my opinion whichi is in no way a criticism, so please don't take it that way.

I'm not a real baseball fan so all of those options are not appealing and I don't think would give classmates an opportunity to mingle while sitting in the seats. I know some of the games are just add ons, but just my opinion.

As for fox and hounds... for those of us who live on the south end of Milwaukee county and beyond, that would be a 1 hour drive one way... a little too far after consuming some alcohol. I know a hotel stay could be arranged, but for just a diner I don't think the expense is justified.

So, with process of elimination, the Brown Deer option remains.

I apollogize if this offends anyone, it was not intended... this is just an explanation of why I did not vote for any of the options and I felt the committee needed to know.

Thanks Ken"ny" Tae, Mark Mallet and I are working on potential sites and dates. Highly likely we're talking about mid October for a 50th gathering. Nothing formal, but at a venue that can facilitate conversations among classmates. More to come in the upcoming months.

I hope you don't mind me responding... We did have a gathering for a Brewer game, plenty of time for planning.. Kathy Brenner Kuritz donated all the tickets for this game since very few classmates showed up..

Hi Joni. Hope your enjoying retirement. Don't know if I'll be able to make the 40th, but I have a couple of suggestions. The reunion in 1994 had a good format. But I would change one or two things. To start things, a club or bar night is always good. Maybe for the second day, plan a couple of outings. I'd like to see a golf outing, maybe a small tournament format. Maybe on the last day, a picnic. If you would plan or brewers game or something simular, I think it would take away from the personal aspect of the gathering. Anyway, wish I could help out more but the distance thing has it's limitations.

Yes and yes also. Have a better idea for the music this reunion. Can do requests. Also would like to see other scheduled events ie golf, trap shooting, machine gun shooting (I can get several) and other fun stuff. I'm willing to help in any way needed.

Hello to all who have commented on "then and now". Isn't it great to "grow up" and have the confidence we wish we had when we were young. When I was in H.S. I was not part of the "in crowd" either, however, I had many great friends. My focus was more on the business subjects I was taking and in my senior year was only at school half days so I could do the school/work co-op program. I would have loved to have participated in more activities, but it would have prevented me from doing the above. Good thing I did focus on my business part of the schooling, as I ended up doing it as a career. This is why I am so looking forward to seeing everyone whether I know people or not so we can reconnect and get to meet each other on another level.

Thank you again Dave and everyone else involved in setting up this web site and arranging for this reunion. It has been wonderful to view and reconnect with some former classmates. I think it would be great to keep it going!

You are right when you say that it doesn't matter NOW about how things were back THEN. We've all "grown up", so to speak, and hopefully expanded our definitions of friendships and priorities.

I did not attend junior high like most of my grade school and neighborhood friends. (I went to Boys' Tech for a year before transferring to Custer.) In that one year, many of the kids I had hung around with had forged new friendships that did not necessarily include me when I got to Custer. It was as if I had to prove myself worthy of being able to hang around them again. At the time I felt somewhat slighted, but soon realized that maybe they weren't the people I wanted to be friends with anyway. Over time (at Custer and beyond), I realized that people will eventually see you for who you are, good or bad. Being accepted by everyone is not only impossible, it's probably not a good thing. Who can try to please everyone?

I knew nerds, greasers, freaks, jocks, cheerleaders and (fill in other descriptors here), and had friendships with someone from every possible category through my 3 years at CHS. I don't regret too many of the people that I met over the years.

In October, I hope to speak to you and many others that I didn't know or may have avoided as a "kid."

It is really funny that the stories that I would post here probably will not be known by many of my fellow classmates. I was unpopular in High School and not part of the so called "In Crowd" but it is really funny how things change. Back then it really mattered and now it doesn't. I wish I knew then what I know now because I certainly would have done things differently. I would not have let fear rule the people I attempted to talk to because I was afraid that they would not have talked back to me. I guess you get to an age when you say what you want, to whomever you want, and hope things go well - if not, oh well!

I think this is a wonderful site because it is bringing up memories from 35 years ago. I may have thought them bad memories perhaps at the 10 yr. reunion or the 20 yr. reunion but now that is all different. I think that as we get older we soften up (or should I say toughen up). It seems that people are more friendly.

I look forward to the reunion in October because I plan to attempt to talk to everyone. I have no fear that most, if not all, will respond positively.

Dave - I bet you have a million stories like this - I truly had no clue the level of partying you did. At least you're safe and here today - is all I can say - whew! I can't figure out why, being from Milwaukee, that I never acquired a taste for beer - - I think it's because my Dad drank enough PBR for Cheesehead nation...Anyway - you're too funny - - see ya!

Senior year I went to Bakula's on Hopkins for lunch on more than one occasion. For less than $2, you could get a sandwich (mmmm, Stewart's sandwiches...) and a bottle of Pabst. Of course, since I hadn't yet turned 18, I wasn't sure if I would get served or not. Because I usually went with Hergie who was a regular there, I was never asked to produce an ID.

However, when the owner was there at night, it was a different story. Bill (Bakula) was very vigilant about not letting underage drinkers hang out at his place. I had to "borrow" a DL from Dan Paluch in order to get a drink from Bill. He called me Dan after that, and stopped asking for ID after 3-4 visits. (Thanks, Dan!)

When I finally DID turn 18 in August, I had a party at my house that eventually moved on to Bakula's. Since my buddies were buying me birthday shots, Bill assumed that "Dan" had turned 19 that night. When I told him that my name was Dave and that I was finally 18, he was not too amused. But, he knew a good customer when he saw one and he let it go. (As it turned out, he knew my Dad from the fire department, so we had a laugh about that.)
