Marguerite Kuntz (Atkinson) - Class Of 1942

(Nee Kuntz) Died peacefully on June 3, 2019, at the age of 95. Peg was born in Phoenix, Arizona on February 7, 1924. Longtime resident of Avon, Connecticut. Loving wife of the late Charles Tracy Atkinson, a former Director of the Milwaukee Art Museum and the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art in Hartford, CT. Together they travelled extensively throughout the world. Devoted mother of Peter (Mary) McCarthy, Karen (Michael) Mihopulos, Kevin (Jennifer) McCarthy, whose beloved father was the late Richard Brian McCarthy, and Adrienne (Frank) Atkinson. Loving grandmother of Elizabeth McCarthy, Marguerite McCarthy, Richard Casey (Margaret) McCarthy, Brian Myles, Kevin Myles, Caitlin Myles, Liam McCarthy, Kathleen McCarthy, Brennan McCarthy, Miranda and Geoffrey Dobbs. Proud great-grandmother of Peter and Grace McCarthy.Peg attended the University of Wisconsin and the Layton School of Art. She served as a secretary in the College of Arts and Sciences, Cornell University and later as Executive Secretary for the Milwaukee Art Museum, the Children's Museum of West Hartford, CT, and the Hill Stead Museum, Farmington, CT. Peg was a serious gardener, an equestrian, a volunteer, and an advocate for the preservation and conservation of Planet Earth and its wildlife. She loved the outdoors and all of nature, her trees, shrubs, horses, dogs, bird, her family and many friends.Remembrances may be made to the World Wildlife Fund.
