Charlotte Goeckerman

February 2, 1928 - June 13, 2017

Charlotte Goeckerman entered God’s loving arms on June 13, 2017, at age 89. Charlotte was born in Milwaukee on February 2, 1928 to Ernest and Elsa Goeckerman. She graduated from Washington High School. After High School she worked for Northwestern National Insurance for 44 years until her retirement in 1990. Charlotte enjoyed volunteering at the Pabst mansion, the literacy center, and was a passionate member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.

She enjoyed dancing, traveling with friends and family, gardening, reading, participating in monthly birthday club meetings, and watching westerns. Charlotte enjoyed spending time with her family and her family enjoyed her. Although Charlotte didn’t have her own children, the children in her family were drawn to her childlike imagination and zest for life. Charlotte never had to spend money on entertainment when her great-great nieces would come to visit; she was the entertainment. She was someone who could dance without music and had the knack for turning household items into toys to play with the kids. She taught them the value of a genuine relationship without the distraction of “things.”

Charlotte’s refreshingly honest personality and free spirit will be missed tremendously by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Elsa, brother Ralph A. (Esther), and nephew James. Survived by great-nephews Timothy (Melanie) and Jonathan (Tiffinie), great- great-nieces Zoey, Lily, Mallory, and Lindy Goeckerman, and great-great-nephew Ian Goeckerman as well as other family members and friends.

Charlotte’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to members of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and special friend Chuck Muehlbauer for being there for Charlotte when her family couldn’t.

Visitation at Krause Funeral Home, 9000 West Capitol Drive, Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Monday, June 19, 2017, at 10:00 AM. Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. Burial to follow at Valhalla Memorial Gardens. Memorials appreciated to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.
