Joyce Huhnke (Berens) - Class Of 1947

Berens, Joyce Delores (Nee Huhnke) Of Brookfield, found peace at age 83, after a long and courageous struggle. She will be missed more than words can say by Rollie, her husband, of 62 years; and by her daughters Robin (Rich) Kinney, Jill McCurdy, and Jan (Todd) Graveline and by her beloved grandchildren, Nick and Nora Graveline. Her brothers George (Valerie) Huhnke and Chuck (Joyce) Huhnke will dearly miss her presence here on earth, while her brother Bob and much loved sister-in-law Virginia Huhnke, along with her sisters Betty, Lucille and Elaine will welcome her into Heaven. She is survived by other sister and brothers-in-law, her special goddaughter Pam Lee, nieces, nephews and many friends who will find our world a little less bright without her special light. She shared a special friendship with Margaret Ordway throughout life. Joyce retired from a management position at Empire Level in 1989 to start her second career as an extraordinary grandma. A native of Milwaukee, she was born to George and Elsie (nee Roth) Huhnke in 1929 and graduated from Washington High School. Joyce had beautiful, flaming red hair and an ever-smiling face dotted with freckles. She loved her family, music, singing, dancing, entering and winning radio contests, cooking and animals. She had the voice of an angel and made her professional singing debut on the radio at age three. Joyce could play just about any instrument and dance the jitterbug better than anyone. As she takes her final sail "Up a Lazy River," Joyce leaves behind many who loved her dearly. Joyce and her family would like to thank the wonderful people at Aurora VNA Zilber Family Hospice for providing as perfect an end-of-life experience as possible. Visitation will be held at the Funeral Home, Thursday, April 12, from 4 to 7 PM and also on Friday, April 13, from 9:30 AM until the time of service at 10:30 AM. Procession to follow to Wisconsin Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the MACC Fund in Joyce's honor.
