Sandra Siegel (Stein) - Class Of 1950 VIEW PROFILE

STEIN, Sandra Jean (Siegel) 10/15/1932 – 10/23/2017 Sandra passed away on Monday, October 23, 2017. She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Bernie Stein (2004). Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Sandy attended Washington High School and received a Master's Degree in Speech and Language Pathology from the University of Wisconsin. She earned a Master's of Education in Counseling & Guidance along with a certificate of Gerontology from the University of Arizona. Sandy was a Speech Therapist in the Madison, Wisconsin public schools for 14 years. In 1978 the Steins moved to Tucson, Arizona where Sandy was a faculty member of The Extended University of Arizona, Pima Community College, and The University of Phoenix. Sandy had been a featured motivational speaker for events and organizations including the International Listening Association and Primary Care Update, a national continuing medical education program sponsored by the University of Arizona College of Medicine.  Sandy also appeared on a variety of radio and television programs. Sandy was a trainer with Hughes Missile Systems for 14 years where she developed and facilitated hundreds of programs and workshops for management, hourly personnel and pre-retirees. The American Society of Training and Development recognized Sandy's achievements with a Human Resource Development Award in 1990. Sandy was a member of the National Speaker's Association, the International Listening Association, the American Society of Training and Development, the Arizona Counseling Association and the American Speech and Hearing Association. Sandy was also a mentor with Tucson Youth at Risk and lead workshops for Academic Preparation for Excellence, a program empowering disadvantaged kids to pursue higher education. She also volunteered for the Salvation Armyand Arizona Sun Sounds. A tireless fundraiser, Sandy raised countless dollars for the American Cancer Society, MS Society and many others. Sandy is survived by her children, David Stein, Alan Stein (Pat), Eric Stein, Julie Bobrick (Sam Bobrick) and her brother, Dr. Richard Siegel (Joan). A Celebration of Sandy's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at the Sheraton at 5151 East Grant Road, Tucson, AZ 85712.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the MS.
