Lester M Wiebe of Peabody, January 16, 1943 – April 22, 2014

Lester M. Wiebe, 71, of Peabody, died Tuesday evening at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a brief illness.  He was the devoted husband of Jacqueline (Pelletier) Wiebe with whom he shared over 43 years of marriage.

 

Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, he was the son of the late John and Olga (Schmeisser) Wiebe.  He was raised and educated in Wisconsin and was a graduate of Washington High School, class of 1961.

After high school, Lester enlisted with the United States Navy and was stationed in Providence, RI.  After his military service he moved to Boston and attended the pipe fitter trade school and became a member of the Pipe Fitters Union, Local 537 and just recently celebrated 50 years with the union.

Upon marrying his wife Jacqueline, he moved to Peabody where he had lived for over 43 years before his retirement.  He has spent the last eleven years living in Arizona. 

Lester enjoyed spending time outdoors and on the water boating, kayaking and swimming.  He also enjoyed playing pool and tennis.

Besides his loving wife, he is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Julie Wiebe of Peabody, his two daughters, Connie Nogas of New Britain, Ct., and Kimberly Godfrey of Salem, his brother, Ralph Wiebe of Gig Harbor, WA, his two sisters, Nancy Larson of WI and Gloria Solem of Coarsegold, CA and is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

His Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 11:30 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.  Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM.  Burial services will be private.  In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made in his name to the Kaplan family Hospice House, 78 Liberty St., Danvers, MA 01923.
