After attending elementary school, junior high school, high school and college together, Janet and I lost contact. Three years ago, my husband and I took a Caribbean cruise and the Wisconsin Alumni Association also had a group on that cruise. They made themselves known on the ship, especially during the trivia contests. They were very competitive and one of the leaders of the team was Janet Ziffer!!! I spoke with their leader and told her I was a member of the UW Alumni Association. She asked where I lived and when I told her I lived in Maryland, she told me that a member of that group lived in Maryland and it was Janet Ziffer. We had lived 20 minutes from each other for many years and did not know it. Then, we re-met in the middle of the Caribbean! Since that time, Janet, Varda Schwartzman (another WHS grad I re-met around the same time I re-met Janet) and I have met for lunch on numerous occasions to reminisce about growing up on the Milwaukee Northwest side and our days at Washington HS. Janet was a delightful woman, who was full of energy and cared about everyone she met. She will be missed. Karen Cofar Rabin
