In Memory

Margaret E "Betsy" Barr - Class Of 1965

Barr, Margaret E. "Betsy" Age 68 years. Passed away at the Aurora VNA Zilber Family Hospice in Wauwatosa, WI on December 3, 2015 following her courageous four-year battle against the metastatic lung cancer that dared to enter her body. Daughter of the late Alexander and Elizabeth "Betty" Barr. Loving sister of Richard "Dick" R. (Linda) Barr, Tucson, AZ; and Bruce A. (Maggie) Barr, Port Washington, WI. Cousin of Jean Barr, George (Karen) Davis, and Earle (Linda) Davis. Further survived by many dear friends and former co-workers. Betsy was the consummate volunteer for many years with the Girls Scouts of Wisconsin Southeast, the Blood Center of Wisconsin, and the Lakefront Festival of the Arts giving of her time, talent and humor. She was a collector of crazy hats and way too many "cheater readers". Betsy was employed over the years at Snelling Staffing Services, the law firm of O'Neil Cannon et al, long-term employee of the Journal Sentinel Customer Service department, and in her retirement, at Bayshore Coldwater Creek and as crossing guard, classroom and playground aide at Atwater Elementary School, Shorewood. A celebration of Betsy's life will take place Saturday, December 19, 10:00 AM at Plymouth UCC Church, 2717 East Hampshire Street, Milwaukee (414) 964-1513. Your bright colored clothing will make it a joyous occasion. Reception will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Froedtert Hospital Foundation specifying the "Fund for Clinical Cancer Center in memory of Betsy Barr". Alternatively, gifts would be welcomed at a charity of your choice. Our family's thanks go to the many dear friends who have seen Betsy through her long and trying four-year fight. For all of the rides, the meals, the times of quiet handholding and of understanding ears, we are eternally grateful. Our thanks also to her doctors at the Froedtert Cancer Center who so graciously cared for Betsy and to staff of the Aurora VNA Zilber Family Hospice for their care and concern.
