PALATINE - Dean Edmund Lewis, 69. Born March 31, 1948 in Milwaukee, WI to Dwight and Corene Lewis, nee Hughes, passed away March 7, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved husband of Terri, nee Mercer. Loving father of Karl (Romaine), Kurt (Kelly) and Freyda (Paul Reninger) Lewis. Proud grandfather of Gunnar Coughlin, Noelle Lewis, Kathryn Lewis, Robert, Sarah and Sophia Fouraker and Colin Reninger. Dear brother of Neal (Joan) Lewis, Jane Scisco and Gail (Melissa Williams) Lewis. Cherished uncle of David and Kristopher Lewis and Logan and Mason Scisco. Fond nephew of Richard (Alice) Hughes. Dean grew up in Milwaukee and met his wife Terri at Geneva College, Beaver Falls, PA. They raised their 3 children in Palatine, IL. He was an avid ham radio operator W9WGV, proud member of the ARRL, member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary and member of Holy Ghost Council #4977. A founding member of the Bridgeport Connecticut Right to Life. He wrote the amendment to the Clean Air Act 1989. Dean retired as a mechanical engineer after 48 years. Dean was most proud of his family and touched many lives. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Visitation Friday, March 9th from 4-8 PM. Funeral Saturday, March 10th, 10 AM from Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 185 E. Northwest Hwy., Palatine to St. Theresa Church for Mass at 10:30 AM.
