Robert R Sims (1957)

Bill was my best friend.  We were friends since High School both being members of the Hotrod Club.  Later we were room mates at the U of Wisconsin, Madison.  Bill was an electrical engineer and I a civil engineer.  We hitchhiked together from Seattle to Madison for the Worlds Fair and From Milwaukee to New York and back during one summer.  After we both graduated we moved to Topanga, in the Los Angeles area, where we rode our motorcycles together, sometimes to our work places which were not too far apart.   Bill worked for several rocket companies, even lived in Lompoc for awhile as a rocket scientist.  I still lived in Topanga, but we visited each other often.  Bill was my best man at my wedding in 1967.  We lost contact for awhile when I was in Guam (1973-1976) and he had moved to Hawaii.  He didn't know it at the time, but he was declining from MS.  We got together later after his second marriage and he eventually moved to the LA area again.  When he was in a wheelchair, we would ride the LA trains and buses for the day; some of my best memories of Bill.  Bill past away, was cremated and buried at sea.

Lois Porth (Bridges-Goodrich) (1954)

Bill was my oldest friend. We lived cross the street from one another on 24th and Cherry st., in Milwaukee during and after WWII. We played in the streets, walked to the Violet Theater on Sunday to see the latest cowboy movies. Soon after his family moved to 88th and Auer Ave.. we moved to 84th and Concordis St. - a three block walk. We commuted togther by school bus and attended sixth grade together at 24 th. St School because our neighborhood school was overflowing with post-war kids. Later we Biked together with others to Steuben Jr. High. I will never forget his frendship. - Gerry Goodrich
