John was born on March 3, 1931, in Milwaukee, the son of John E. and Myrtle (Sturm) Nordbeck and attended Milwaukee Washington High School. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Merice Weinfurtner on May 11, 1957, in Milwaukee. She died on Oct. 18, 2009.

Ed had been a salesman for Combined Insurance Company of Fond du Lac. He garnered many awards and earned many vacation trips for his wife and family. Ed was a top sales associate for Combined Insurance. He was active in the United Commercial Travelers, holding various offices.

He loved the Milwaukee Brewers and followed the Braves while growing up in Milwaukee. He went to many games over the years including a game last season.

He also watched the Green Bay Packers faithfully. He enjoyed golfing with family, picnics in the park with family, and attending his grandchildren's sporting and musical events.

He also was very electronically savvy. He loved to surf the Net on his laptop and recently opened a Facebook account.

Family was very important to Ed. His work took him on the road Monday through Friday so he always made the weekends extra special for his family.
