Obituary for Nicholas R. Schaeve

Nicholas R. Schaeve, 76, of Greenfield, died on Friday, June 29, 2018 as a result of traumatic head injuries that he sustained the day before. He was born on February 1, 1942 to the late Robert K. and Mary E. (Schneider) Schaeve in Fond du Lac.

Nick graduated from St. Lawrence Seminary in 1960. He was a seminarian for eight years.  After obtaining a Master’s degree from UW-M, Nick received his Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Psychology from Marquette University. He worked many years for the Milwaukee Public School system at various locations. Nick moved from school to school as the principal and guided the positive rehabilitation of some troubled schools that needed deep care and attention. He loved his students!

Nick loved serving at All Saints Church in Milwaukee for 10 years. He enjoyed mall walking, the Symphony Pops, movies and the Milwaukee Braves/Brewers. Nick co-authored the book: “Empowering Youth: Accessing Positive Peer Power”. Nick loved to be around people; he was a sociable guy and was loved by many.

Nick is survived by two brothers, Joe (Cathy) Schaeve of Madison and Karl Schaeve of Minocqua; his niece and nephews, Bob, Matt, Mark, Nina and Peter; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Jane Kumber and one sister-in-law, Marci Schaeve.

Visitation:  Nick’s family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, July 7, 2018 from 11:00 to 11:45 AM at Holy Family Church, 271 4th Street Way in Fond du Lac.

Service:  A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 Noon on Saturday following the visitation. Inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Cremation has taken place.
