The Homan family is saddened to announce the passing of Mark A. Homan, 63, at his home in Door County on May 7, 2015 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Mark was a charter member of the KIDS and the following is what he had to say about that experience in his own words...
I never met a more accomplished group of people in my entire life. As a singer and dancer I was ABSOLUTELY out of my class, but it was an absolute pleasure. At my first KID's rehearsal I sat right next to Steve Simpson. Yikes! I wanted to get right back on the bus. I could not believe ANYONE my age could sing so well. Fortunately, Mr. Chalgren intercepted me on my way to the door. Later, I had the opportunity to serve on the Board with the Colonel and Mr. Chalgren for 10 years and treasure that experience as well. Working with the Colonel was an experience indeed!! Being a KID was a great gig, and I treasure it still.
It is Mark and his family’s wish that his love of music be passed on to future generations through a memorial fund to help support the cost of music lessons and instruments for school children needing financial aid.
Memorials may be given to this newly formed charitable fund at www.MarksMusicFund.org.
I was also a charter member of KIDS and had the pleasure to know Mark. A finer person with a zest for life I have yet to meet! R.I.P. my friend!
