Alex and I were close friends during our Pulaski years.  During the summer of 1969 and shortly after Pulaski graduation (specifically on August 15, 1969) we spent the day together at the Wisconsin State Fair in West Allis.  By late afternoon that day we decided to watch both shows of the big concert held on the main stage–the Johnny Cash Show.  In addition to Johnny Cash performing in the show, Cash brought to the show June Carter, Mama Maybelle Carter, and June Carter's two sisters as well as the Statler Brothers.  Johnny Cash's band featured the great Carl Perkins.  Alex wanted to see Johnny Cash perform and I wanted to see Carl Perkins.  According to The Milwaukee Journal newspaper, about 23,000 persons attended the 1st show and about 20,800 attended the 2nd show.  We were quite dismayed though that both shows were nearly completely identical right down to the same jokes and conversation of the artists between songs.  That evening Alex became a really big Johnny Cash fan (me not so much)!  Later, I found out that the now famous Woodstock festival started that same day.
