Don married Carol Hannay in 1967. He graduated from Mankato State with Bachelors and Masters Degrees. Then he attended the University of Missouri for a PHD in Agricultural Economics. He was Dept Chairman at North Dakota State at the time of his death in Aug. of 1989. He had two children Christine now 41 and David now 37. Carol married Mike O'Brien 11 years later.
