Gerald J. Vosika, age 62, of Moorhead, MN, died Wednesday, October 27, 2004, at Innovis Health, Fargo.

Gerald was born on July 9, 1942, in Minneapolis, MN, to Walter and Henrietta Vosika. He graduated from De la Salle High School in Minneapolis, and in 1967 received his MD degree from the University of Minnesota. He was a board certified oncologist/hematologist. His first love was medical research and over the years published numerous papers as well as holding four patents.

He married Karen Botz on August 13, 1966 in Minneapolis, MN. In 1980, they moved to Fargo where Gerald was Professor of Hematology at the University of North Dakota and head of the Oncology Department at the Veterans Hospital.

Gerald is survived by his wife, Karen; two sons, Michael (Paul Upham) of Edgewater, NJ, and Eric of Moorhead; one daughter, Tara (Justin) Gibb of Moorhead; and two grandchildren, Ariana and Ellie.

He was preceded in death by four children, Katherine, Marc, Douglas, and Mary Alison.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Church of the Nativity, Fargo. Visitation will be held Friday from 5-7 p.m. in Church of the Nativity, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery in New Hope, MN, at 1 p.m. Monday.
