Minneapolis Roosevelt High School – Class of 1986

We’re off to a strong start, and the excitement is building. The 40th reunion is a milestone worth celebrating, and we’re committed to creating an event that reflects the spirit of the Class of ’86—fun, welcoming, and full of great memories.

40th Reunion Planning Committee Update

The Planning Committee has completed the key early decisions and is now moving into the next phase of organizing our 40th Reunion for Fall 2026.

Event Format

The reunion will be in‑person only. Hybrid and virtual formats were ruled out due to low engagement, higher costs, and technology barriers for some classmates.

Venue Progress

Four Minneapolis-area venues are being evaluated: Hook & Ladder, Mosaic – The Den, Day Block Brewery/Event Center, and the Richfield/Bloomington Eagles Club. The committee will narrow these to 2–3 finalists once remaining details and possible site visits are completed.

Budget & Sponsorships

There are no carryover funds from past reunions. Current resources include a checking account and PayPal. The committee is exploring seed money options and encouraging sponsorships or donations from classmates and businesses. A working budget will be developed after venue finalists are selected.

Program Vision

Decisions on the event’s style, duration, entertainment, and optional digital elements are still open. Final choices will depend on the venue and budget.

Communications

Digital: The class will use Email, Facebook, the Class Website as primary communication channels. No USPS mailings or class survey are planned. A “Save the Date” will be shared once the venue and date is confirmed.

Committee Structure

Core roles are in place, including Chairperson, Treasurer, and subcommittees for Outreach/Communication, Logistics, Program/Content, and Finance/Budget.

Some assignments remain open.

 

Current Action Items

The committee is actively gathering venue details, seeking entertainment quotes, conducting sponsorship outreach, and coordinating via Google Meet. Key decisions are expected at the next meeting.

Timeline

The reunion is targeted for September or October 2026, ideally aligning with the Roosevelt Foundation Golf Tournament. The next committee meeting is planned for early March.
