Rita was my very first friend on Lyndale Avenue at age 5. She got into speed skating and my dad would take me to watch her meets.  She was always so fun to be with .....and her face would turn so red when she would get in trouble or embarrassed.  She was so good at 4 square on the playground at Visitation.....always wanted to be on her team. I was so looking forward to seeing her at the reunion.  Rest In Peace Rita

I'm so very sad to read this. I ran into Rita a few times, must have been in 2015 because she told me about Jan Schnobrich's passing. I remember her as warm, friendly and easy. Sincerest sympathy to her partner and family.

Oh noooooo... just as I was going to tell her how she always made me laugh....ALWAYS!! I will treasure her SPUNK and her way of being nice to everyone she met. It's not too late for me to incorporate this into my own life a bit more. Aloha, R Schatzlein

I am delighted to have re-connected with Rita these last few years. We have a commmon friend between us that we didn't know about. So it was wonderful to meet with her again. She always had a hug and lively conversation. She was fearless and kind and a truly good person. I will miss our little chats and her bright smile.

I always remember ice skating at the Martin Luther King Park on 42nd & Nicollet where Rita & her brother practiced speed skating. They circled around us.

So proud Rita had representation of several Regina friends at her memorial service today. The Minneapolis service was wonderful & I was happy to be there for her.

Her funeral service was done with such intention as Colleen's gift to her wife.  So happy I could be there with so many Regina classmates.  The music, the shared memories (with lots of tears AND laughs).  So many accomplishments of this remarkable woman.

During high school I didn't travel in Rita's circle of friends and I was too intimidated to realize Rita throught everyone was her friend. Luckily, like others I could connect during reunioin preparations. Her memorial service  on Saturday was a lovely tribute and provided all of us with enough "Rita-isms" to keep her alive in our thoughts for a long time to come. She really was quite something.

I was so saddened to hear about Rita--she was such a force in our class and I was really looking forwards to seeing her. She seemed to know who she was from Day One and her impish, boisterous spirit was unique and inspiring. She was a vivid soul who will be missed--
