He died some time in the 1970's. He would probably have been diagnosed as being autistic, but the diagnosis wasn't well known in the 1950's and 1960's. It was simply tragic the way other kids led him to behave dangerously and get into trouble, when his social skills were inadequate to protect him. He was hit by a train and died, possibly a suicide.
