Bruce Hall

 

Bruce A. "Bear" Hall, 67, of Champaign, Ill., formerly of Moline and Geneseo, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 15, 2015, of a ruptured aortic aneurysm at the Carle Foundation Hospital, Champaign.

Funeral services are 1 p.m. Friday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island. Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded following the service. Memorials may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.

Bruce was born June 1, 1948, in Moline, a son of Robert A. and Helen Blaser Hall. He graduated from Moline High School, attended Black Hawk College and graduated from the Illinois State Police Academy. He served Illinois State Police Districts 1, 7 and 10 and retired after nearly 30 years of service.

He married Melody Dickens on May 7, 1971. Together they had a son, Jason. They later divorced.

Bruce was very patriotic and loved history, traveling, all sports and especially Quad City River Bandits baseball games. He also enjoyed antiquing, weekly poker parties with his V.F.W. pals, trips to Europe and especially spending time with family and friends. He was a fun-loving, teasing, generous individual who never knew a stranger and loved life.

He is survived by his son, Jason, Colona; granddaughter, Breanda Hall, Cambridge; life's-partner, Sue Peck, Champaign; brothers, Robert B. (Connie) Hall, Moline, and Douglas A. (Kathy) Hall, Rock Island; sister, Cynthia Scott, Rock Island; many nieces and nephews; best friend and cousin, Richard Blaser, Moline; and longtime special friends, Mike Shanks, Broadlands, Ill., and L. K. Miles, Port Byron. He was preceded in death by his parents; and grandparents, Albert and Louise Blaser and Andrew and Nona Hall.
