This was submitted by one of Tim's good friends:

I remember Tim Whalen as a very nice person.  I was a friend when I was a Senior and he was a Junior at MHS.  I was a good friend for two and one half years including being a roommate for one and one half years while we were undergraduate students at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA.  He was President of the College of Education Student Council and graduated with a Bachelors degree in Social Studies and English Secondary Education in 1970.  He went on to earn a Masters degree in Guidance Counseling from LSU and taught in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

I lost track of him in the late 1970s.  I have fond memories of our friendship and or rivalry in one-on-one basketball and singles tennis.  He almost always one because he was the better athlete.  However, I was able to give him a good battle most of the time.

He started at LSU because his family had moved to Baton Rouge, LA.  After his family moved to Dickinson, North Dakota, Tim, his girlfriend Pat (Patricia) Moore of the MHS Class of 1966, I, and my girlfriend from Normal, IL would car pool together between Illinois and Louisiana.
